Primary Job Responsibilities
A Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university in Industrial Hygiene, Biology/Chemistry/Environmental Sciences or Related Sciences with certifications from recognized programs (e.g., CIH), is required.
The ideal candidate should have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be able to accomplish production goals with little supervision, interact professionally with clients and have excellent interpersonal skills. A reliable car, current driver’s license and valid insurance are required. Candidate must be willing and able to work any shift within a twenty-four hour period and on holidays and weekends. Some travel and/or overnight stay possible. Individual must be able to obtain and maintain all needed PA Act 114 clearances (PA State Criminal History Background Check, Federal Criminal History Report and PA Child Abuse Clearance).
Experience in all the above is desirable but not necessary. Criterion would consider training the right candidate.
Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
Monitors asbestos and lead abatement projects, collects air-o-cell samples, tape-lift samples, uses moisture meter, takes photos and puts together comprehensive daily log with findings associated with visual inspection and areas in need of fungal remediation. Uses direct read instruments (GreyWolf, Dust Meter, 4-Gass Meter) associated with Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Investigation; collects water samples and lead wipe samples.
Collects bulk samples for asbestos, lead-paint chip samples; conducts limited asbestos surveys, trains with Level II and III IH’s on conducting comprehensive hazmat surveys (asbestos , lead and universal waste).
Courses/Certifications to be Obtained: NIOSH 582, Asbestos Contractor/Supervisor, Lead RRP, Lead Dust Sampling Technician, and Asbestos Building Inspector
